Established in 1991, Terraine provided environmental services to local industries and supported UST projects. Since that time, Terraine's size and capabilities have grown through meeting our client’s needs and providing quality services at a fair price. Terraine serves clients across the country and has established offices and personnel in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Texas and Ohio. Terraine's use of technology allows us to not only improve our technical performance but also to manage, coordinate and control projects.
Data Acquisition. Terraine uses PocketPCs and other technology to improve data collection in the field.
Wireless to Internet Remote Telemetry. Terraine provides cellular-based, wireless to internet field data transmitters and monitoring services.
Data Acquisition and Management. Terraine developed a centralized, searchable and sortable repository of data for projects that enabled rapid performance of tasks that have historically taken many hours of labor.
Data Visualization. Terraine also uses state-of-the-art software and methods for data presentation and visualization to improve interpretation and understanding of subsurface processes and contaminant trends and how that can lead to better decision making. We work with each client to meet their specific needs and requirements and provide a range of our deliverables from standard tag maps to visual and interactive graphics. DigitalFormz. Although these applications were developed for environmental projects, they are transferable to other industries. Terraine has created a sister company to focus on the use of this technology in other industries – DigitalFormz. Terraine is committed to using new technologies to increase efficiency and lower costs. Terraine and subcontractor employees across the country use project collaboration tools, such as ftp sites, web-based servers and software to collaborate jointly on client deliverables and other functions, such as virtual meetings and paperless form processing. Terraine consistently searches for methods that will increase efficiency without sacrificing accuracy to deliver the best product at the best value to the client. To this end, we combine the individual talents of our employees and combine them with technological advancements to enable our employees to work smarter, not just harder. Some of our unique collection methods involve the use of customized personal data assistants (PDAs) during field data collection or the use of remote telemetry devices. To this end, Terraine endeavors to deliver to the client a product that combines technology, current data collection methods and rigorous thinking. We have delevoped a centralized, searchable and sortable repository of data for our projects that enables us to perform tasks that historically take many hours of labor. We have built custom routines that allow us to create electronic data deliverables (EDDs) in EQuIS™-compatible format, import and maintain a large image database with client-specific output routines or query specific wells in our database for historical information. Our employees use project collaboration tools, such as Groove and Creative Manager, to collaborate jointly on client deliverables and other functions, such as virtual meetings and paperless form processing. We also use these tools to co-edit documents concurrently with other firms. At Terraine, we employ the use of industry-standard software and methods for data analysis (Surfer, Canvas, Microstation, etc.). We understand the difference between static and dynamic visualization methods and the benefits each has to the intrepretation and understanding of subsurface processes and contaminant trends. We work with each client to ensure that our deliverables are exactly what the client needs, from standard tag maps to highly visual and interactive graphics. We can include these graphics in any number of formats and deliver them to you in hard copies, or even embed them directly into PDF documents.
DigitalFormz Health Inspection Form is Terraine’s solution. By using our tablet computers and a custom-designed form, health inspectors can quickly and easily score, print and post the results of an inspection in a fraction of the time it would take to do the same process manually. Tablet PCs to Input Data. Using our custom-built forms, your inspectors can quickly and accurately score a business or institution, based on your criteria, using drop-down boxes for frequently used responses. An inspector can record a violation in a few quick clicks. Synchronize and Upload Data to Databases. Synchronize your inspection with a complete database when your inspectors return to the office, or upload instantly with a wireless connection. Push Data and Reports via Custom-Built Websites. View your health inspections in real time to see which businesses are behind on fees and their location. Print Inspection Forms On the Spot. Using our recommended optional printing equipment, print your inspection forms on the spot for institutions in your jurisdiction, and keep electronic copies for your own records.
Terraine uses technology to improve quality and reduce costs. Field data are collected electronically using a relational database on PocketPC-based handheld PDAs, which are synchronized daily with a back end environmental database server. Terraine prepares quarterly, semiannual and annual monitoring reports; interprets analytical results; prepares graphical illustrations of contaminant plumes; presents data visually via animated plume maps and provides recommendations to the client.
One of our larger clients is the US Navy, and some of the services we are providing include: Former Naval Training Center (NTC) Orlando – Orlando, FL. Terraine is performing LTM services to support monitored natural attenuation as the remediation method for multiple sites, including landfills, pesticide storage buildings and vehicle fueling areas at the facility. Work consists of sampling more than 150 monitoring wells on a quarterly basis at eight different sites. Contaminants include: petroleum, solvents, pesticides/herbicides and arsenic. Sampling Data obtained in the field are then provided securely to the Navy on a very rapid turnaround basis. Terraine is also responsible for presenting data at Orlando Partnering Team (OPT) meetings attended by Navy personnel, State regulators and the EPA, and for maintaining a publicly-available Navy website with non-sensitive project and Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting information. Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Charleston - Charleston, SC. LTM work is being performed at Solid Waste Management Units (SWMUs) 23, a closed landfill, and at SWMU 36, a former hazardous waste accumulation area. Marine Corps Recruiting Depot (MCRD) - Parris Island, SC. LTM work is being performed to support natural attenuation at the former Aviation Gas Pipeline site. Former Naval Air Station (NAS) Cecil Field and Naval Air Station (NAS) Jacksonville - Jacksonville, FL. Terraine is providing LTM at five sites (AVGAS pipeline spill, AST bulk fuel storage area, base vehicle fueling area, fire fighter training area, fire station fuel tank area) located at the former NAS Cecil Field and NAS Jacksonville. Naval Air Station (NAS) Corpus Christi - Corpus Christi, TX. Terraine is performing LTM at NAS Corpus Christi and Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD). LTM work consists of sampling 42 monitoring wells annually. Naval Ordnance Station – Louisville, KY. Terraine is performing LTM on 16 groundwater monitoring wells at Naval Ordnance Station (NOS) Louisville.
